Tutor's biography

An experienced and dedicated 28 year old practising educator, Charlotte has worked in this field for over six years with great success. She has worked with children from Nursery through to Year 6, helping many children achieve outstanding results in both their Year 2 and Year 6 tests. Charlotte has an exemplary academic record herself, having gained an upper second in Sociology from the University of Warwick in 2009 and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Cambridge in 2010.
Charlotte is a full time teacher in North London and a part time e-learning and face to face tutor in Abu Dhabi and Islington respectively. Her teaching role has included all primary age groups. Charlotte is currently Literacy Manager for a large Primary School in Islington, leading, developing and enhancing whole school Literacy practice and outcomes. Charlotte holds a current DBS/CRB check (awarded 2014).
Charlotte`s strength as a personal tutor is rooted in her role as a classroom teacher in a number of challenging inner-city schools. This experience has enabled her to accumulate a wide range of resources and knowledge of learning styles to enable targeted tutoring based on the needs of individual children. Charlotte has taught and coached a number of children who find learning challenging, who have gaps in their subject knowledge or who are working behind their expected level of attainment. She is able to assess learning outcomes quickly and determine where to target learning and resources in order to improve outcomes.
Charlotte is approachable and gentle with her tutees, acknowledging any special needs or particular requests from the child’s teacher or parent/carers. She adapts her lessons accordingly, thereby enabling optimal support for the child. She believes strongly that successful learning is rooted in a positive working relationship both with tutees and their families. Charlotte’s successful track record of tutoring is evidenced by current clients seeking extensions of up to two years after seeing immediate benefits from an initial period of tutoring. Charlotte is always clear and strategic about the learning intentions for each session as well as over a sequence of lessons. She has a firm but fair approach, at the same time ensuring learning takes place in a fun and focussed way so that outcomes are optimised for each child.
